Updated: 5 days ago

The Wild Robot Review

The Wild Robot is the Dreamworks film adaptation of the book by Peter Brown. It's an animated science-fiction film following the journey of Roz, a robot who was lost after the cargo ship, she was on sank. After being accidentally activated by a curious Otter Roz finds herself in a world she doesn't understand and wasn't programmed for.

On the surface, it's a wonderful film with a solid story, adapted for screen well, an all star cast. wonderful score, but it gets even better when we uncover the subtext and lessons this film can teach us about ourselves, our society, the role of kindness and community.

It's warm, funny, has moments of joy, and a few moments of tears in this beautiful experience that we can all connect with.

If the futuristic robots didn't give it away, there is a not-so-subtle clue that this film is indeed set in the future, without spoiling it, look out for the Golden Gate Bridge.

The Wild Robot shows us that we truly are in control of our own programming, and kindness is not a weakness - but the most beautiful stoic strength.
