REVIEW:
This is the story of Nan Goldin Artists and activist. It’s about the making of Nan, and also her story and motivation to change society and the art world though activism.
The editing of such big themes and what is presumably volumes of footage in intertwined storyline’s is exceptional as is the archival footage and excerpts from Nan’s exhibitions leading you on a nuanced journey showcasing the humanness and the intricacies of politics in a very real David vs Goliath / people vs power experience.
I love Nan’s art, how she rose from adversity, her bohemian roots, and most of all her heart particularly in the face of adversity in complex times.
This documentary gives hope and reminds us that we all have a voice and that voice can slay the giant.
