Tar - Ben Sorensen's 60 Second Review

Updated: Dec 26, 2022

REVIEW:

TÁR, set in the international world of classical music, centers on Lydia Tár, widely considered one of the greatest living composer/conductors and first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra.

This quirky European style drama documenting the downfall of the genius conductor, highlights how out of touch with reality and those around her she really is while showing the complex politics of an orchestra.

It's stellar work from Cate Blanchett who learnt to play all the instruments you see in the film and delivers the nuance of the complex role flawlessly.

Musical detail is great as is the effortless use and flow between English, German and Italian language throughout which only adds to the story.

In cinemas January 26, 2023.
